The Salentini, who finished 18th in Serie A last season, have suffered a devastating double relegation after being found guilty of involvement in the Calcioscommesse betting scandal.

"I had offers from Parma and Torino in Serie A and Cesena in Serie B, but I find myself well at Lecce and I want to push forward with them despite the difficulties," stated the 34-year-old Uruguayan in La Gazzetta dello Sport.
