Gerrard and Beckham best I played with for England - Man Utd captain Rooney

Wayne Rooney states that Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and Manchester United great David Beckham were the two best players he ever played with for the England national team.

Rooney created history recently by becoming England's all-time leading goalscorer during the European Championship clash against Switzerland.

There were certainly a host of players who helped Rooney achieve such a marvellous feat and the striker has now gone on to state that the midfield duo of Gerrard and Beckham were the best players he played alongside in a Three Lions shirt.

In a BBC documentary, entitled Rooney: The Man Behind the Goals, the United and England captain said: "I'd have to say Stevie [was the best].

"For me he's an incredible player, an incredible leader. He helped me a lot during my early days with England.

"I loved playing with David Beckham - as a striker you know you can make a run and he'll put in on your head or into space for you."
