German tacticians Volker Finke and Christoph Daum are being linked with the vacant Australian national team job.
German media claim that the next Socceroos boss, to be announced today, is in fact a German coach but they did not state exactly who it may be.
Finke, coach of J-League club Urawa Reds is one name linked with the vacancy as is Daum who is the current boss of Turkey's Fenerbahce.
It remains to be seen who indeed will be installed as the replacement for Dutchman Pim Verbeek but it will all be sorted at 4:00pm AEST this afternoon when Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy makes the announcement from Ljubljana where the Socceroos are for tomorrow morning's friendly with Slovenia.
