Geremi backs Keegan's 4-3-3 at Newcastle

Newcastle United midfielder Geremi is banking on Kevin Keegan using his successful 4-3-3 formation next season.

Geremi is currently on international duty after starring for Cameroon in the African Nations Cup after helping his country to the final, where they were beaten by Egypt.

And as he prepared for the qualifier at home to Cape Verde a fortnight today, he told the Evening Chronicle: "I enjoyed my football with Newcastle at the end of the season, especially because of the way the team played. We had a very bad period, but we stuck together, and continued to work.

"The manager had a big impact on us, and we've had good results. "I know he had been following the African Nations Cup, so he knew that I can play wide in midfield, or right-back.

"It is the same role, and for me it's easier, as I know how to play right-back, and I have a good understanding with Habib Beye.

"We played with three in midfield, which has a good shape, and we had good organisation.

"We were very confident at the end of the season and there is no reason why we should not carry this into next season."
