Gera says West Brom players welcome Mel impact

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Zoltan Gera says manager Pepe Mel has made a positive early impression.

Gera is hoping the club's new playing style will help him record his first success over Aston Villa in a Baggies shirt.

"I think he is a nice man," Gera told the Birmingham Mail. "He's told us clearly what he wants from us, which is a change in mentality.

"When a new head coach comes in with new ideas you have to understand what he wants from the team.

"I think the players and the squad have reacted well. We will get better and better. Everyone was so excited to play under the new head coach in the first game.

"The second half was better and I expect we will get better game by game."
