Genoa president Preziosi: Serie A can't change relegation rules

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi says they can't change the rules for relegation with Serie A now suspended.

Serie A, B and C have been suspended until at least April 3, so if Euro 2020 does go ahead as planned on June 12, there won't be time to finish the season.

“The primary objective is to overcome the health emergency, but when it comes to the league, everyone still wants to reach a natural conclusion," said Preziosi.

“That is the prevailing line in the various conference calls between Presidents. Implementing whole new rules, which have never been used before and are different to the ones we had when the season started, is not possible.

“This is simply not something anyone has prepared for. It is also wrong in principle as well as in practice. Those of us who invested heavily in January want to see our efforts rewarded by playing it out on the field with our current squad."
