Genoa insist Boateng deal all above board

Genoa insist their deal for former Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is above board.

Pompey reportedly made a formal complaint over the missed payment of the first instalment, which was due at the start of the month.

"Genoa have paid both the first and second instalments to Portsmouth for Boateng," insisted general manager Alessandro Zarbano.

"It is true there was a delay on the first, but it certainly wasn't to be blamed on Genoa.

"The explanation for what happened is very simple. In the invoice, Portsmouth did not indicate the banking details and they were also incomplete in the contract.

"When we realised, we made a request and once we received the right details, we made the payment.

"In fact, we have even gone so far as to pay the second instalment around 10 days earlier than the planned deadline of October 5."
