Serie A clubs are scrambling for Independiente defender Leonel Galeano.

Galeano, 19, has been likened to former Inter Milan stopper Walter Samuel and attracted approaches from Italian clubs during the summer.

Genoa, Fiorentina and Inter were all in contact with Independiente during the close-season to register their interest.

Enrico Preziosi, the Genoa president, is ready to push the boat out and make a firm offer for Galeano when the market reopens in January.
