Genoa coach Gianpiero Gasperini has backed striker Marco Borriello to make Italy's Euro2008 squad.

"We are all hoping that Marco makes it to Euro 2008," Gasperini told Rai Radio Anch'io Sport. "There are more than two months left of the season and if he continues like this it would be hard to leave him out.

"Signing Borriello was President Enrico Preziosi's decision. He did well to secure the deal with Milan.

"There were two options - one was Borriello and one was Daniele Cacia and then the latter went to Fiorentina."
