Genoa chief admits Arsenal defender Sokratis 'an option'

Genoa have confirmed they intend to sign Arsenal defender Sokratis.

Genoa CEO Alessandro Zarbano has talked up a move for Sokratis.

The Greece international hasn't featured for the Gunners this season having been left out of their Premier League and Europa League squads.

And with his contract set to expire in the summer, the North Londoners are keen to get him off their wage bill this month.

Turkish side Fenerbahce have been linked with the 32-year-old, but Genoa now appear to be in pole position.

Speaking of the ex-Borussua Dortmund star, Zarbano told Sky Sport: "Sokratis is an option, really good player - we still don't know if he'll arrive in the next few days."
