Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini praised M'Baye Niang after he struck in their 1-1 draw with Empoli.

Niang is on-loan from AC Milan.

"I hoped he would have this impact. We know his characteristics, so he can grow and improve even more here," said Gasperini.

"We've liked him for a while, he is a player suited to Genoa. Our club can get the best out of young talents, whereas at Milan he didn't have much space."
