Gaydamak will not push Portsmouth into administration

Sacha Gaydamak will stand by Portsmouth.

The Guardian says Gaydamak will not force Portsmouth into administration even though the club missed last Sunday's deadline to pay their former owner a £9.5m instalment on the £30m he claims he is owed. Gaydamak is keeping a watching brief and will decide future plans as the position at Fratton Park develops.

His decision will be welcome relief to Portsmouth's owner, Ali al-Faraj, and the club's hierarchy, after Avram Grant admitted that since taking over as manager in late November he had experienced "the most emotionally and mentally difficult period of my life".
