Garry Monk named new manager of Birmingham City

Garry Monk has been named new manager of Birmingham City.

The Midlands club dismissed Steve Cotterill on Saturday evening after they lost 2-1 against Nottingham Forest. That result left the relegation-threatened side in 22nd in the Championship.

Monk will be joined at Birmingham by Pep Clotet, his assistant from his time at Leeds and the ex-Oxford manager, James Beattie and Darryl Flahavan.

Monk has also managed Swansea and captained them to a League Cup win in 2013.
