The agent of Gareth Bale has dismissed claims he insulted Real Madrid with his 'golf flag' controversy.

Bale has angered many Real Madrid fans by posing with a flag that put his list of priorities in the order of Wales, golf and then Real Madrid, but his agent Jonathan Barnett has insisted the player is calm about the backlash.

"It's beyond ridiculous," he told Talk Sport.

Barnett also clarified in another interview that the flag wasn't a dig at the club or the fans.

"It was meant for the media," he told ESPN.

Also speaking to ESPN, he stressed that Bale is unfazed by the controversy.

"No worries," was how he described the Welshman's current state.
