Galloway and I offer Everton boss Martinez something different – Baines

Leighton Baines believes that he and Brendan Galloway are different types of players.

During the long absence of Baines due to injury, Galloway has been playing in the left-back position for Everton and the youngster has more than managed to acquit himself well in the first team.

Now with Baines back fin action, Roberto Martinez will have a selection headache for the defensive starting berth but the 31-year old feels that he and Galloway offer their manager two completely different options to choose from.

Baines told The Express: "The thing is me and Bren we are two totally different players, so it is not like the manager has to choose between two players who offer exactly the same thing. We are different. It maybe makes it easier for him whatever decision he has to make.

"He (Galloway) has played centre half before and you can see on the pitch he does things differently. He makes different runs and arrives in different areas in the pitch.

"He is very comfortable on the pitch you can see that and the biggest thing is to communicate with the other people around him on the pitch. Sometimes he is on his own a little bit, but I was the same when I was young. It is about finding your voice.

"You see the same thing with Stonesy. In the space of a few months there has been a massive, massive improvement in terms of his communication with those people around him and his presence. He is developing into a captain.

"I see Brendan in a similar style to John and I think he can develop in a similar way. But I just feel like I can offer something if needs be."
