William Gallas is delighted with his decision to join Tottenham last summer.
His move from Arsenal was controversial.
But he told Hotspur magazine, "Did I consider retirement? No. I wanted to play there was no way that I would give up. I felt fine and knew I could play on.
"I then met up with Harry Redknapp and we had a chat about the possibilities. An added aspect on my shoulders was the fact that I had played for Chelsea and Arsenal and I appreciate that it was not easy for him either.
"One consideration was how the fans would react. Maybe some people would not want to see me play for Spurs but I told Harry that I just wanted to play and that he would not be disappointed. In the end it was OK and I think I passed my test but before that you couldn't be sure how it would go.
"The proof came with my new contract because that showed I had a good season. Now I want to build on that because every new season is an important one."
