Galatasaray winger Ömer Bayram has recalled growing up with Virgil van Dijk.

The pair were close in Holland, with Bayram eventually playing for NAC Breda and Liverpool defender Van Dijk at FC Groningen.

Bayram recalled: “He used to come to our house.

"My mum used to make dried beans rice, fries, and we would eat together.

"It worked for him, it worked for us, thank God. We were almost the same height at 14-15 years old. Virgil's height increased in the next few years."
