Gabriel Jesus assures Arsenal fans: I want to be here for 5 years

Gabriel Jesus says he's joined Arsenal for the long-term.

The Brazil has hit the ground running at Arsenal in preseason since arriving from Manchester City.

“Well, as I said, I always like projects in my life, I like to do things not only thinking about today, but thinking about the long term," Gabriel Jesus told TNT Sports.

“I came here not to stay one or two seasons, but to stay five. So that's my thought. That's why I chose to come to Arsenal, a very big club in England, where they have a very beautiful history, and who unfortunately is dormant a little bit.

“So that also counted, I have this challenge of winning. Coming to a club that haven't won a league for a long time and that has been improving every year. The decision was also very important."

Of the ease with how he's settled, the striker added: “Well, I believe it's not a readaptation because I'm still in the same league, country environment, so that helps a lot.

“And in an environment where there are many young people, everyone talks, everyone laughs, everyone has fun together. There are Brazilians, there's Mikel, there's Edu, there are people from the staff that I also worked with.

“So this part is very important, the way the players welcomed me here is also important, it counted a lot. And, well, I'm happy to be here, for the start of this pre-season. And I believe that it is still nothing of what is to come."
