Gabi is leaving Atletico Madrid.

Marca says yesterday Atletico Madrid received confirmation that Gabi will be departing for Qatar with a deal only waiting on a contract being written up. The club is already looking for a replacement.

It will be no easy task to replace the captain and Diego Simeone and his team have decided that they will not be looking for a central midfielder to take his spot in the squad.

Although Atletico were planning on retaining Gabi, Simeone feels that with new signing Rodri accompanying Saul Niguez, Thomas Partey and Koke, there is already sufficient cover in the middle of the park.
