Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic says Serbia deserved their shock 2-1 World Cup qualifying win against Portugal.
Mitrovic headed home a 90th-minute winner to earn a 2-1 victory for the Serbians in Lisbon, which ensured the visitors topped the group and earned direct progression to next winter's finals in Qatar.
That leaves Portugal in second place, with Cristiano Ronaldo's nation now forced to earn World Cup qualification via the play-offs in March.
"We came here to play football and having been the better side, we earned it all," he told Nova television.
"We are reaping the rewards of hard work and the belief that we would be able to defy the odds and beat Portugal.
"We are overjoyed, for our country and the people first and foremost."
