FC Dallas winger Brek Shea believes Fulham ace Clint Dempsey is the perfect role model to look up to.
The 21-year old USA international says his national teammate, who continues to score goals at will for the Cottagers, is the type of player and person that budding American soccer players should mould themselves on.
"I don't think he lets the hype get to him. I think he's a big role model to everyone on the national team and the US.
"He just stays humble and plays for his family and the country. Learning from him is a big help.""Look at Clint Dempsey - he just scored a hat trick [last weekend in the FA Cup]," Shea said.
And Shea, who had a winter training spell with Arsenal, is looking to kick on in 2012 and do as much as he can for both club and country.
"So I'm just hoping to build every year and get better and learn from these camps, and when I get into camps with guys who are playing in Europe.""I just want to build upon what I did last year," he added. "So hopefully, this time next year, they're talking about another really good year.
