Arsenal could miss out on the chance of adding to their manager's transfer kitty.

The Gunners, who are at the top of the Premier League, were hoping that selling Cedric Soares would give Mikel Arteta more money to spend this winter.

However, The Express states that a deal to take the Portuguese full-back to Fulham has all but collapsed.

Fulham were not willing to pay Arsenal a significant fee, as they preferred a loan signing.

Soares' wages were also an issue for the newly promoted club, who will now look at other options.

They will assess Netherlands international Joshua Brenet from FC Twente instead.
