Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen steps aside with Norway

Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen has accepted his time with the Norway squad is coming to an end.

The 30 year-old's form on-loan with QPR has been impressive, but Norway coach Stale Solbakken has chosen to move on from the midfielder.

Johansen told TV2: "I feel it is natural to give myself now with a new generation on the way and the recent change of coach. It has been an honour to play for Norway for the last eight years, and I would especially like to thank Lars Lagerbäck who gave me the opportunity to be captain.

"It has been one of the biggest highlights of my career for me and the rest of the family."
