Fulham join battle for Portsmouth captain Wilson

Fulham boss Mark Hughes is launching a bid for Portsmouth captain Marc Wilson.

The News of the World says Hughes has joined the race for Wilson.

Stoke thought they had a deal tied up for the youngster on Friday after agreeing to send Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence to Fratton Park as part of the package.

But West Ham have now tabled a cash bid for Wilson in excess of the £3m offer from West Brom that was rejected last week.

And Hughes is ready to offer £5m for the Pompey skipper with the troubled South Coast club keen to rake in the cash.
