Fulham did not go straight to Claudio Ranieri as they chased a replacement for Slavisa Jokanovic.

The two men who were on their shortlist include Quique Sanchez Flores and Carlos Carvalhal.

The club's owner Shahid Khan spoke with all three candidates for the job, which is to save Fulham from relegation.

But the job went to Ranieri, as Fulham announced his arrival and Jokanovic's departure in one statement.

It is the first job in English football for Claudio Ranieri since he departed Leicester City, where he won the league title.
