Fulham face Sunderland competition for Man City striker Santa Cruz

Fulham boss Mark Hughes is pressing to be reunited with Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Daily Mail says Hughes wants Manchester City striker Santa Cruz to spearhead his Fulham attack.

The 28-year-old fears he could miss out on Roberto Mancini's 25-man squad and would be keen to link up with Hughes who knows Santa Cruz well having originally brought him to England from Bayern Munich three years ago.

Hughes also paid £17.5m to take Santa Cruz to City but injuries initially restricted his opportunities.

Although Fulham do not have the budget to buy right now, Hughes hopes a loan deal can be sorted out.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is also interested but Hughes holds the edge having worked with the player before and being London-based.
