Fulham boss Silva emerges as top Tottenham contender

Fulham boss Marco Silva is emerging as a contender for Antonio Conte's Tottenham job.

The Sun says 45-year-old Silva could be the club's No 1 choice to replace the Italian if he departs as expected.

The Portuguese coach has overseen a remarkable rise with the Cottagers since returning to English football in the summer of 2021.

Fulham romped home to the Championship title last season and they currently sit in eighth place in the Premier League - 15 points clear of the relegation zone - a remarkable achievement for a newly-promoted side.

They remain in contention for a European spot and the report states how Silva - who is under contract until the end of next season - is viewed by Spurs as an extremely talented young coach who has helped Fulham to develop an entertaining brand of football.

He has previously coached Hull City, Watford and Everton in the Premier League - with Silva sacked by the Toffees in December 2019 when they languished in the relegation zone - while he has also led Estoril, Sporting Lisbon and Olympiacos
