Fulham boss Meulensteen: Curbishley not here to replace me

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen is confident Alan Curbishley isn't after his job.

Rumours have been swirling that Curbishley, appointed as technical director in December, could be promoted to change the fortunes of the Premier League's rock-bottom outfit.

When asked if he is worried that Curbishley will take his job, Meulensteen said: "Not at all. I brought Alan into this club as part of my squad.

"He's as much responsible as myself, and the other coaches - Ray Wilkins, John Hill and Mick Priest. We're all in this together.

"I wanted Alan here for these scenarios and to give me the best possible backbone.

"Alan recognises these things because he has gone through the roller coaster of emotions before. It's important you keep a clear vision.

"He is utterly 100 per cent supportive of me, Ray and all the others. We keep making sure we move forward in the right way and get the right plan together for the next couple of months.

"They are 16 Premier League managers under threat. I don't lose a night's sleep. It could be Chris Hughton or Alan Pardew. That's how football works. It doesn't worry me at all."
