Christian Fuchs says the Carabao Cup is important to Leicester City.

City progressed to the third round after beating Newcastle on penalties on Wednesday night, setting up a tie at Luton.

The League Cup is now in its third year with Thai energy drink Carabao as its title sponsor and that gives it greater significance to City, left-back Fuchs has said, with the club's owners King Power hailing from Bangkok.

“We take it seriously," he said. “We want to advance in the cup. It's a very important cup for us, especially because Carabao is Thai so it's special for our owners and we want to pay them back.

“It's always the case, it's always one of our goals to advance in every single competition as far as possible as well as get good results in the Premier League. Wednesday was the first step and we're very happy with that.

“When you win one (trophy), you want more. It's tough, there are so many great teams in the competition that you have to face, so we try to give our best and let's see where we end up."
