Nampalys Mendy admits it has always been a dram of his to play professionally in England.

The 24-year-old French midfielder completed a £13million transfer from Nice to Leicester City on Sunday and was elated to be joining the Premier League having spent years watching the competition from afar.

"It was always a dream for me to play in England since I was a kid. But to have the chance to sign for the champions of England was incredible," he told The Sun.

"They had an unbelievable season and like the rest of the world I watched it all the way.

"I was one of the many who wanted them to win the title, of course."

He added: "English football is followed very closely in France — and like all the kids I dreamt of playing in England."
