French Interior Minister Darmanin: We don't blame all Liverpool fans - Klopp must take responsibility

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp needs to take responsibility for the chaos at the Stade de France on Saturday.

Darmanin has recalled Klopp calling on Liverpool fans to travel to Paris without tickets after complaining about the allocation for Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid.

He is quoted by the Mirror: "These problems in football are only in matches involving some English clubs.

"The presence of such a large number of English fans without tickets has already been, especially in 2019 in Madrid. And this created such difficulties. The same problems were observed at Wembley Stadium in 2021. Behavior, disorganisation and a huge market for counterfeit tickets."

On Klopp, Darmanin continued: "I remember that it was Klopp who a few days ago called on Liverpool fans to come to France even without tickets. We found ourselves with tens and thousands of British fans, some of whom were completely respectful and bought tickets or went to a special fan zone.

"Let me remind you that tens of thousands of fans in the fan zone were without problems, they followed the rules, but there was a smaller but active part that conflicted with our security system."
