Former Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa is baffled by the animosity of Gerard Pique.

Pique has attacked Freixa on social media over the past week.

The former Barca director told Mundo Deportivo: "I'm here because Piqué responded to two of my tweets. My tweets are usually not news, they are not important. What I did was convey my idea of why (Ousmane) Dembélé does not renew. If you want we can talk about this issue and we can also talk about what should should be a diet of a professional athlete.

"What I cannot go into is assess the response I received, you would have to ask Piqué, who above all is a Barça player and I will always be by the side of the club and its players.

"For my part I have no problem with him, on the contrary, I have been surprised by his responses because I have always had a magnificent relationship with him and his family. His grandfather Amador Bernabéu is a person that I admire very much."
