Former Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday defender Peter Gilbert is hoping he can win a permanent contract somewhere.
The 26-year old former Wales U21 has become a free agent after finishing a short stint with Oldham and now hopes to find a club where he can play regular first team football.
"It has been frustrating for me not being with a club as I just want to be playing football," Gilbert told skysports.com. "Every player wants to be playing football and I am no different.
"I was at Oldham earlier this season on a short-term deal and they offered me the chance to stay there, but I wanted something a bit longer with more security so I decided to leave before the close of the transfer window so I could find myself a new club.
"I have been training at Mansfield to keep my fitness up .The Mansfield manager, David Holdsworth, who I know from time at Birmingham, has been good enough to let me come in and let me work on my fitness and I am grateful for that.
"There has been interest from a few Championship and League One clubs and I have spoken to few managers, but for whatever reason nothing has materialised."
