Ryan Fraser proved the difference as Newcastle United beat Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup second-round on Tuesday.
The Scotsman, signed as a free agent this summer, scored on debut in the 1-0 victory.
Blackburn dominated possession throughout, but a clever pass from Miguel Almiron set up Fraser to fire home the winner after 35 minutes.
Steve Bruce's side will now face Morecambe in the next round.
