France ace Antoine Griezmann: I thought of doing a Zizou

Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann admits he considered a Panenka for his World Cup final penalty in France's win over Croatia.

After only five minutes of the 2006 showpiece against Italy, Zinedine Zidane stepped up for a penalty and chipped it, Panenka style, over the goalline via the underside of the crossbar.

"I thought about taking a Panenka penalty, like Zidane," Griezmann stated post-match, having opted to roll home his spot-kick.

"For the final, I thought it better to ensure I scored."

In the immediate aftermath of beating Croatia 4-2, the French striker was ecstatic and made sure to pay tribute to his opponents' showing in Moscow.

"I don't know where I am!" exclaimed Griezmann.

"I'm really happy. It was a very difficult game, Croatia played a great game.

"We started a bit shy, we let go little by little and made the difference.

"Frankly, this is very big."
