Fran Escriba is set to be named new coach of Villarreal.

Escriba will succeed Marcelino, says AS, after his sacking this week.

Marcelino was sacked on Wednesday night.

Escribá, from Valencia, was at Getafe last season, but was sacked after picking up just two points out of 36 in the second half of the season, with Getafe being relegated.

Villarreal meet Monaco next week in a Champions League qualifier.
