Fowler urges Liverpool to compete with Man Utd for Kane

Liverpool hero Robbie Fowler would like to see Tottenham striker Harry Kane at Anfield.

Fowler wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "(Manchester) United will be in, for sure, and this is a bit left-field, but I've said before that Liverpool could do worse than go for him, because he's got that ability to drop deep like Firmino, and he can guarantee goals.

"So he has a question to ask: Are Spurs closer now to winning trophies? I think objectively, and without appearing to put them down, most people would say they're further away than before.

"I loved Liverpool, but I left them, because of ambition.

"It was an ambition to play games in my case, but I went to Leeds because I genuinely believed I could be the difference for them as they challenged for honours."
