Richard Foster says it is certainly not a given that Rangers will immediately return to the Champions League.
The Ibrox club are currently chasing promotion from Scottish League One to the Championship before setting their sights on the Scottish Premiership.
Expectant 'Gers fans are imagining that the club will be back in Europe's premier club competition not long after the return to Scotland's top flight but defender Foster is remaining calm on that proposition.
"It would be disrespectful to other Premiership teams to say that we would get straight back into the Champions League spots in our first season back," he told the Daily Record.
"I don't think we are in a position to say that now.
"It's the old cliche but we are taking it one game at a time and one league at a time.
"We're really enjoying this season. We're in the last eight of the Scottish Cup, we're clear at the top of League One and we are in the Ramsdens Cup Final.
"Apart from the League Cup I don't think there is much more we could do."
