Fortuna Dusseldorf chief Thomas Röttgermann has opened the door to holding onto Dodi Lukebakio.
The 22 year-old, on-loan from Watford, insisted earlier this week he could remain with Fortuna Dusseldorf next season, despite the Germans not having the budget to buy the midfielder outright.
Röttgermann said: "We always talk to all players and clubs, but we are not masters of the proceedings in this case. Of course, if Dodi wants to stay with us, we're happy.
"Our manager Lutz Pfannenstiel is exploring the possibilities."
Watford rate Lukebakio in the €10m class.
