Retired Aston Villa captain Martin Laursen is confident the club will find a replacement for him and continue to move forward.

The Dane was forced into retirement at the end of last season due to ongoing knee injuries but has confidence that the club can find a suitable centre-back to fill his place.

"I hope that Aston Villa can find someone to play my position and really do well," he told BBC WM.

"The club moving forward - that would be the best scenario for me."
