Former Tottenham ace Jenas would pick crocked Arsenal midfielder Wilshere ahead of Leicester star Drinkwater

Jermaine Jenas says he would pick Jack Wilshere over Danny Drinkwater in the England squad for the upcoming European Championships in France.

Wilshere has been ruled out for majority of the season while Drinkwater has been one of the most crucial components in Leicester City's unlikely Premier League title charge.

As a result, many are backing the former Manchester United youngster to earn a place in the England squad for Euro2016 ahead of the consistently injured Wilshere.

However, former Tottenham man Jenas still believes that Wilshere should be given the nod if he can prove his fitness with the Gunners prior to the tournament.

The former midfielder told BBC Radio 5 Live: "If Wilshere is fit then he goes to the Euros.

"I'd take him over Drinkwater. I don't think Jack is naturally a holding midfielder but neither is Drinkwater, he's more box-to-box.

"They're both uncomfortable in the holding role but I'd personally pick Jack."
