Former Toronto ace Henry makes West Ham bow

Canadian youngster Doneil Henry made his first appearance in a West Ham United shirt this week.

The 21-year old defender, who joined the Hammers from Toronto FC via Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol earlier this month, stepped out for the east London club's U21 development squad against Everton on Tuesday in his first piece of action since arriving from Ontario.

Henry played 65 minutes of the 2-0 defeat at Southport FC Stadium and impressed for Steve Potts' side before being replace by Reece Oxford.

A report on West Ham's official website suggested that there were 'encouraging signs from the new signing' and that 'his tackling and distribution had been impressive'.

Henry's next fixture for the Hammers Dev squad will take place against Chelsea at Rush Green on Friday, January 23.
