Steven N'Zonzi says that he will need to adapt to referees in La Liga after being sent off on his debut for Sevilla.
Referees in Spain are known to dish out bookings readily and new Sevilla midfielder N'Zonzi experienced this first hand after being sent off for two second half bookings on his debut against Malaga on opening weekend in late August.
Arriving in Spain from a physical competition such as the Premier League, N'Zonzi was surprised at his sending off but has acknowledged the fact that he will have to adjust to the way Spanish referees operate.
N'Zonzi said: "That red card (for two second-half bookings) against Malaga was quite difficult. There is a big difference in the game and referees between England and here and I hope that this serves as a lesson.
"In England it is possible to talk to the referee during the match. That's different and there are challenges and physical you can make in England which don't earn cards which do here."
