Charlton Athletic have appointed Jose Riga as their new manager following the sacking of Chris Powell.
The Addicks parted ways with Powell on Tuesday morning after falling to the bottom of the Championship table following a run of just one win in 14 league outings which included eight defeats.
Former Standard Liege manager Riga, who has worked as the technical director for AC Milan's youth academy, has now taken the reins at The Valley with Karel Fraeye taking the assistant's job.
"Jose Riga has been appointed as head coach of Charlton Athletic, the club confirmed on Tuesday afternoon," an official Charlton statement read.
"Riga will work alongside Karel Fraeye, who also joins as assistant head coach.
"Following the departure of Chris Powell, Riga becomes the 23rd man to take permanent charge of Charlton's first team."
Riga's first match in charge will be a home fixture against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night.
