Former Real Madrid coach Jorge Valdano broke down in tears upon learning of Diego Maradona's passing while on air.
Valdano and Maradona won the 1986 World Cup together for Argentina and the former spoke of the latter's passing live on Spanish television on Wednesday evening.
Valdano was at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano for Atletico Madrid vs Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League and was asked to share his memories of his friend and former teammate.
"The news surprised me a lot and, like with everyone, it has really hurt me for the player and for his family," he started when speaking on Movistar+.
He was then asked for his favourite memories of Maradona.
"Many of those memories made me smile," he started, before breaking down into tears.
After being asked if he'd like to continue, the broadcast cut away from the Argentine.
