Charlton are almost certain to be relegated to League One next season, being 14 points adrift of safety. The club have placed up to 25 members of their staff at risk of redundancy in a to cut costs ahead of the dramatically-reduced income they will have next season, with the end of the Addicks' two years of parachute payments following relegation from the Premier League in 2007.
Charlton plc chairman Derek Chappell told the club's official website: "The loss of the final parachute payment from the Premier League at the end of this season, along with our current situation of facing relegation from the Championship, will reduce our revenue by at least £10million.
"As a result of this substantial cut in income, the plc board is finalising its 2009/10 budget, with a view to a dramatic reduction in the overall cost of running the business."
