Former NYRB, Everton, Norwich defender Carney delighted with Newcastle Jets move

David Carney was absolutely thrilled to sign a contract with A-League club Newcastle Jets on the weekend.

The 30-year old left-back has signed a deal with the Jets for the remainder of the 2013/14 season as he strives to force his way into Australia's World Cup squad.

Carney, who recently finished a stint with MLS minor champions New York Red Bulls, was thrilled to be linking up with the Jets after last playing in Australia with Sydney FC in 2007.

"I'm very happy to have signed with Newcastle and I'm really looking forward to getting out on the pitch and playing some games," the former Everton, Sheffield United, Norwich City, FC Twente and Blackpool man told the club's official website.

"I've got a lot of hunger to do well for this club and my main focus is to work hard and make a positive impact.

"I've had a little bit of a break since the MLS playoffs finished and now I'm ready to get back into it, help the team finish the season strongly and hopefully qualify for the finals."
