Former Nurnberg defender Spiranovic joins Western Sydney

Matthew Spiranovic has joined Western Sydney Wanderers for the 2013/14 A-League season.

The 25-year old centre-back has signed with last season's runners-up just 11 days out from the new campaign after leaving Qatari outfit Al-Arabi earlier this year.

The Geelong-born former FC Nurnberg and Urawa Reds man will provide competition in the Wanderers defence which already consists of Michael Beauchamp and Nikolai Topor-Stanley.

Spiranovic recently trained with former club Melbourne Victory as well as undergoing a couple of trials in Europe.
