Former Liverpool and Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier believes that England can win the 2026 World Cup if they can produce an outstanding player in the coming years.
The Frenchman says that every successful team in the past has relied on a world-class player and Tottenham ace Dele Alli has the potential to become that player for the Three Lions.
He said: "You need to have a top, top outstanding player and Alli can be that for England. He is still young, but he is something special.
"England have not won anything since 1966 but they are on the right track. They are developing proper coaches and proper players – at some point it will pay off.
"But it will only pay off if they find that bright spark who makes it all happen."
