Former Hereford chairman becomes Shrewsbury manager

Graham Turner has been appointed as Shrewsbury's new boss on a three-year contract. Turner makes an emotional return to the club he both played for and managed 30 years ago.

The experienced tactician has most recently been associated with Hereford, and it was only last Friday that he sold his shareholding at Edgar Street to end a 15-year tenure as chairman, chief executive and manager.

"It's great to be back where I started out all those years ago, and I have fond memories of my previous spell here," Turner told the club's official website.

"I'm looking forward to getting started and will be doing all I can to bring success to the football club."

Chairman Roland Wycherley added: "I'm delighted that Graham is back at the club where he had a prolific career as a player and enjoyed his first taste of success as a manager.

"We can now enter the new season with confidence and I'm sure our fans will look forward to this year's campaign with renewed optimism."
